History of the Honeycrisp

The Honeycrisp is a cultivated apple variety developed at the Minnesota Agricultural Experiment Station’s Horticultural Research Center at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Designated in 1974 with the MN 1711 test designation, patented in 1988, and released in 1991, the Honeycrisp, once slated to be discarded, has rapidly become a prized commercial commodity, as its sweetness, firmness, and tartness make it an ideal apple for eating raw.

AFI at the Berks County BARN Tour

Appeeling Fruit Inc. participated in the annual Berks County BARN Tour, which highlights agricultural businesses and organizations throughout the country. Appeeling Fruit was stationed at the first stop, their local high school, and many of their employees alma mater, Schuylkill Valley High School.

Appeeling Fruit at Taste of Berks 2018

Appeeling Fruit was thrilled to learn the annual Taste of Berks Event would expand in 2018 to include food manufacturers and agricultural businesses. We didn’t hesitate to accept when we received our invitation. This year’s event represented the breadth of amazing foods that are grown, produced, and created right here in the Greater Reading Berks Region.
